No idea if this is accurate in the least. I wish tests had examples rather than questions like this. Also, apparently I am very rare?

WHY AM I UPDATING MY LJ MORE OFTEN THAN MY REGULAR BLOG

Filed under: Books, Miscellaneous, Real Life — unsquared @ 12:45 am

*not all that recent; may write another entry on Thursday or Friday to talk about summer school and such.

Not much has happened since the end of the school year. Heck, I haven’t really had the chance to truly get away from Berkeley, what with having to attend eye appointments every week. I had to get fitted for new lenses since the ones I had weren’t giving my eyes enough oxygen. After that, I needed yet another refitting because they seemed to be irritating my eyes!

The following week, I came in without the test pair I had on before, which was a no-no. I thought they wanted me to see how the trial lens would be. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH, I was a subject of sorts that day. Interns and the like had the opportunity to look at my right eyeball through a teaching tube. Apparently I have something on my eye that usually disappears after birth. Thanks, mom! Aside from that, there was also a foreign body in my left eye, but they wanted me to come back the following week to (1) determine my eyes’ response to the lenses and (2) see whether the body would just go away.

This week I had it removed (might’ve been residue from a ripped contact lens) and my lenses were fine–though my vision didn’t feel as sharp this time around–so I won’t have to go back for an appointment until next year. I much prefer these lenses over my previous pair, especially compared to the first test pair I tried on. Stiff contacts feel so awkward. I believe they Acuvue Oasys, two-week disposables. I’m used to monthlies, but the increased health benefits is nice, even if it probably costs more. Yippee! I so prefer going to the dentist over the optometrist; I feel like I’m taking a test rather than attending an appointment when I’m at the optometrist. Eye chart, you are my enemy… It just feels ridiculous to say this letter is an A when I know I’m not looking at an A.

Besides that, I’ve seen two movies this summer so far: Up and The Proposal. As usual, I’m really fond of Pixar movies. (more…)

HMM. Amazon price dropped to $1,322.46. 1323.46 if I get Amazon’s laptop instead since they almost price-matched J&R or whatever.

No es muy interesante

Filed under: Miscellaneous, School — unsquared @ 2:20 pm

I saw this at Walgreens sometime in December.

Okay, that’s probably the most interesting thing in this entry.

Called Kinokuniya the other day and it turns out they did indeed send us a postcard. Since they have my name, address, and phone number, I can just come in with identification. Whoop!

The PFA Library is pretty much three or four separate rooms with books and files. It’s smaller than I thought it’d be and kind of has limited seating. It’s all secretive and stuff since I had to sign in to gain access. The receptionist had to buzz me in. Fancy! I spent about three hours in there and scanned 63 pages worth of stuff. (more…)

No clever title :(

Filed under: Miscellaneous, Real Life, School — unsquared @ 10:39 pm

…Man, I can’t stop thinking about how my parents may have thrown out a Kinokuniya postcard (more specifically my dad since he loves throwing things away; he even threw away one of my brother’s puzzles because he hadn’t put it together). I went in like last month or the month before to special order a magazine and they told me there was a 50-50 chance they’d be able to acquire the item for me. I didn’t actually expect them to get it, so I went ahead and ordered them online, though it’ll be some time before they get shipped to my house. I appreciate my mom finally telling me, but doing that on a Monday when I know I can’t go to the store to check is going to distract me for the rest of the week. Guess I’ll sell the copy I ordered or ask Akadot to cancel or swap it for something else. It’d be sad too if it turned out to be something else instead of a Kinokuniya postcard, meaning we’d waste gasoline.

…I’ll just call them tomorrow or the day after. :| b (more…)

  • Damn it. It’s Pre-conventional –> conventional –> post-conventional. Wonder how I got it into my head that there wasn’t a post. I was debating over this one… Well, I think I did better than last time, but who knows? Doubt I got an A though. ;; Might end up taking the final at this rate… *5:32 – Nope, not an A. Definitely better than last time. Median range this time. Will have to take the final for any chance of an A in the class. Need an almost perfect score on the third exam and a score comparable to today’s exam.

Sam’s Market

Moar pasta. :| b

  • CLASSICO TRADITIONAL FAVORITES: FOUR CHEESES – $3.99
  • DE CECCO Capellini – $2.59

Don’t you love my caps? Apparently capellini only has a two-minute cooking time. My guess is that it’s attributed to how thin the pasta is. I still have bow ties to finish, but I like grabbing groceries on Tuesdays.
